Yolandi Jukes

A professional that pushes the boundaries and synergizes facets of legal, compliance, governance and risks (GRC) which yields excellent results.  Some of her achievements and projects to date in collaboration with the Executive and compliance team, include inter alia:

  • Minimal litigation cost inclusive of high-profile matters by implementing efficient management of resolutions as well as all drafting for litigation matters prepared and managed internally with a 98% success rate all-encompassing of customer management and internal labour hearings, resulting in annual cost saving;
  • Take on additional portfolios as and when required including retail portfolio with the breakout of Covid-19 in the beginning of 2020 which led to a cost saving;
  • Attributed to an increase in sales by enhancing the on-boarding and origination processes whilst automation of business processes, overall revenue increased by 13.8%;
  • Managing multiple regulatory licenses successfully, including obtaining NCR approval for an additional credit provider license mid-2020, book size in the territory of R1.7bn;
  • Successful implementation of the Nicholson inquiry recommendation and was appointed CSA representative of NBI, the local partner of the UNGC;
  • Expediting the approval of major projects at board of directors level and monitor return on investments;
  • Drive compliance awareness inclusive of the following portfolios: credit provider (NCA), debt collection (DCA), company law (CA), anti-money laundering (FICA/AML), data & security protection (PoPIA), corporate governance (King IV), insurance (FAIS & PA, FSRA), consumer protection & marketing law (CPA, ETCA), etc. as well as the equivalent in non-RSA jurisdiction and manage Statutory Compliance and Regulatory Reporting;
  • Contributed or led successful implementation of projects and solutions – a new customer account management system (CML), legislative projects (Covid-19 readiness inclusive of retail stores and non-RSA jurisdiction, PoPIA, DebiCheck for authenticated collections) and Customer On-Boarding platform (Fiori) to name a few.

Yolandi is a skilled senior legal and compliance professional that has accomplished to enter the financial service, retail and hospitality industry sector by grabbing the opportunities that presented themselves.  The experience she has gained working across these diverse industry sectors and blue-chip companies have put her in a position whereby she is able to work in the most challenging corporate cultures and strive, for example:

  • Implementing litigation and sustainability strategy successfully due to the level of good corporate governance.
  • Mitigate severe reputational risk resulting in no regulatory penalties nor fines to have been issued to date.
  • Effective regulatory compliance management with the team in the zone of 26 core different licenses and regulators inclusive of the data protection project.
  • Company Secretarial duties inclusive of scribe & co-ordination of the Members Forum/Shareholders Forum, including AGMs, Board of Directors, Executive team, Audit & Risk, Finance, Social & Ethics, Remuneration. Served on the Employment Equity and Training Forum (TEEF).

Yolandi’s current role has a broad commercial focus, and she advise Executives and Directors across the business regarding critical challenges that need to be turned into opportunities, to furnish business with a competition edge.  She is called upon to provide guidance on future risk factors that may affect the company and has the capability to work across the business at all levels.
